Open to amateurs, professionals and photography students as well as the general public, the Awards and Festival take place over 5 days to celebrate the craft of photography.

Locations across the city host the event including the famous Croisette. Exhibitions, workshops, portfolio reviews, student programmes and talks from World Photography Academy members will be available as well as talks from Jonathan Torgovnik, Nadav Kander and Reza.

The highlight of the programme is to be the ‘Photography Now’ symposium, presented by some of the industry’s leading figures exploring the current topics, trends, dilemmas and debates concerning photography today.

The Grand Lumier Theatre of the Palais des Festivals will see the Sony World Photography Awards announced with categories for professionals, amateurs and students along with the 2010 L’Iris D’Or Photographer of the Year being announced. The final presentation will go to the recipient of the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award.

The awards and festival take place in Cannes between April 22 and 27 2010. Tickets cost £15. For more information, visit the World Photography Awards website.
