Getty’s Flickr Collection calls for submissions

Call for Artists allows any Flickr user to submit images for use by Getty

A year since Getty Images partnered with Flickr to launch the Flickr Collection – a service which chose images uploaded to Flickr to create a commercially viable collection – the ability to submit your own images for consideration is now available.

Flickr and Getty Call for Artists

Since the launch of the collection last year, the library has grown to over 60,000 images, many of which have been licensed by Getty Images’ customers from around the world.

After the partnership was announced, editors at Getty explored Flickr to find the right photos to be part of the collection. With more than 4 billion images to look through, this became an overwhelming task for the editors.

In the past, Flickr users could set up their accounts to reflect that they wanted to be contacted by Getty but could not actively present a portfolio to the company. Today Getty have announced a formal ‘Call for Artists’ meaning any member can submit their work to be considered for the collection.

Submissions should include 10 images that represent what you consider to be your best work. The Getty team will judge the submissions based on style, subject matter and technical skill. If any of your images are selected you will be contacted by the Getty team and asked to enrol.

More detailed guidelines for submissions can be found on the Call for Artists webpage.
