2 new beginner Pentax compacts

E90 and H90 include upgraded features and no-frills shooting

Along with the release of the retro Optio i-10, two more classicly designed compacts have been released by Pentax. The H90 and E90 are aimed squarely at the beginner market.

Pentax Optio H90

The H90’s simple design houses a 5x optical zoom lens, extendable to 31.3 times using the Intelligent Zoom function (also found in the Optio i-10).

A 12.1 Megapixel sensor, combined with the PENTAX designed high performance imaging engine are designed for faithful colour reproduction. A large 2.7 inch LCD monitor is found on the back and it is also capable of HD movie recording.

Other features include sophisticated Face Detection AF & AE function and blink detection.

The E90, also released today, comes in a lot cheaper but also includes Smile Capture and high-sensitivity anti-shake mode. 3x optical zoom is extendable up to 17.1 times and high speed continuous shooting are also included.

For more information, including full specifications, see the Pentax website.
